Preserving the Memory of a City: Inspired by the Documentary Outside the Walls

Besides my profession as a journalist, I have also focused on documentary work covering various topics for many years. Therefore, I watched the documentary film "Outside the Walls" with curiosity and excitement.

The first thing I need to emphasize about the documentary is this: it's crucial that we focus on the experiences and stories of our own regions. Because we know our own geography, its people, and all its living things well, what we tell and show will be more impactful. That's exactly what the young team behind the documentary "Outside the Walls" has done, telling the story of Kuşadası, where they live.

A second point: I believe that editing in documentaries needs to be perfect. Faulty editing, no matter how interesting the subject matter, negatively affects the outcome if it harms the documentary. Outside the Walls was perfect in terms of its music, lighting, sound, and editing.

I think we have every right to expect new documentaries from this talented young team in the future, and I applaud them.
